An Online Course in the Anguttara Nikaya
with Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi
On Saturdays, Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi leads a full morning program of meditation and sutta study. The schedule is: meditation from 9:30 to 10:10 am, and sutta study from 10:10 to 11:20 am ET. .
The Anguttara Nikaya arranges discourses of the Buddha according to a numerical pattern, grouping together suttas that revolve around the same number of items. Because of the coronavirus pandemic the course will be conducted online via Zoom. The class starts at 9:30 am with a 40-minute silent meditation, which you will do at home, after initial instructions by Ven. Bodhi. This will be followed by a discussion of the suttas from 10:10 am to 11:20 am. This section of the class will continue with the study of “The Book of the Fives.” An electronic file of the Book of Fives can be found here.
Ven. Bodhi has translated the entire Anguttara Nikaya, published by Wisdom Publications (Boston, 2012, 1900 pages) under the title The Numerical Discourses of the Buddha.
